Happy New Year in the YC! - Teacher Meghan

It was wonderful to have the kids back on Thursday. Their excitement was contagious and they were all so happy to be back to school and to see their friends. Over winter break snow and penguins invaded the classroom.

In our texture table sparkly "snow", trucks, shovel and windmills kept the kids busy dumping, filling and driving.

Penguins, "icebergs" and blue water were featured at our water table.

The kids enjoyed building snowmen at our light table and skiing at our building table.

Around the room kids were busy with puzzles, games, fine motor activities and dramatic play.

The kids decorated mittens at creation station this week.

One of our parent led activities this week was making sparkling snowflakes using snowflake stamps dipped in white paint and glitter. These kids LOVE their glitter and had a great time adding shimmer and shine to their flakes.

Our other parent led activity this week was a snowman game. The kids got to throw "snowballs" aka plastic golf balls through a snowman's belly. This was a great gross motor activity that worked on eye-hand coordination.

Our new instrument during circle time this month is the drums. The kids had so much fun beating on their drums to the rhythm of the music.

It was wonderful seeing your sweet kids on Thursday, we have missed them! We are excited for another fun week ahead.
See you on Tuesday,
Meghan and Susie
